Veteran full back set to win his 100th England cap against Brazil.
England captain Steven Gerrard has asked the Wembley crowd to give defender Ashley Cole a warm reception when he takes to the field against Brazil on what will be the Chelsea left back’s 100th appearance for his country on Wednesday night.
fanatix tickets – Barclays Premier League tickets are still available for next weekend’s games.
Chelsea vs Wigan tickets are on sale from £20 for this Saturday’s match at Stamford Bridge.
The Liverpool midfield player is concerned that Cole will not be given the recognition that he deserves against the five-time World Champions, despite the player becoming only the seventh Englishman to ever record the feat.
“It is very important,” said Gerrard when asked in the pre-match press conference about the crowd applauding Cole.
“If the crowd take a moment to think about what he has given in an England shirt over the last 10, 12 years it’s been phenomenal.
“He has been probably the most consistent player I’ve played with during my time. It’s going to be Ashley’s night, if he’s picked, and the players are certainly going to show him a hell of a lot of support. Let’s hope the fans do as well.
“Everyone here and everyone in that ground on Wednesday… you can’t take that away from Ashley.
“He deserves to be a 100-cap player, there’s no two ways about that.”
