The Buffalo Bills added defensive tackle Marcell Dareus to their active injury list for unknown reasons, but he has been arrested twice this offseason.
Buffalo Bills defensive tackle Marcell Dareus has found himself in trouble with the law and with his team. He was arrested in April for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The Pro Bowl defensive tackle was arrested subsequently for allegedly street racing a month later.
The former third overall pick has performed well for the Bills though, but the NFL is expected to be brainstorming a suspension for him. The Bills have already acted accordingly by placing Dareus on the active injury list, but it has not been confirmed that this is the official reason for them starting training camp without him.
Dareus enjoyed the best season of his career in 2013 by finishing with 71 tackles and 7.5 sacks, and this was enough for him to earn his first Pro Bowl trip.
The Bills have one of the best defensive lines in the NFL with Mario Williams at defensive end and Kyle Williams at defensive tackle. The former finished with 13 sacks while the latter added a career-high 10.5.
Dareus will look to put his troubled past behind him and help the Bills’ defensive line remain a strength.
