Kings XI secure dramatic victory in Abu Dhabi.
Kings XI Punjab secured a dramatic victory over Chennai Super Kings in the 2014 IPL thanks to a match-winning 95 from Glenn Maxwell.
The match at Abu Dhabi was set up as a great encounter when Chennai set the imposing total of 206 to win for Kings XI after an impressive first innings.
New signing Brendon McCullum and opener Dwayne Smith blasted the Super Kings to 100 without loss in under five overs.
McCullum became only the fourth player in Twenty20 history to score 5,000 runs during his time at the crease.
Suresh Raina and captain MS Dhoni also gave useful knocks to put 2013 finalists CSK in a seemingly dominant position.
However, they had not catered for the form of Maxwell, who was unimpressive last term after becoming the most expensive player at the auction for Mumbai Indians.
Yet after leaving for Kings XI the Australian clearly had much to prove and alongside South African David Miller blasted his side to victory with 95 runs off just 43 balls.
