In what could be devastating news to Chelsea fans, star player Eden Hazard will try to leave Stamford Bridge to join PSG if his wife wants him to, reports the Metro.
The billionaire French club are interested in the 23-year-old sensation, but it was previously thought that it was irrelevant, with the Belgian happy in London and playing well.
However, recent comments from Hazard have thrown his future into contention.
“If my wife was to say: ‘Honey, I’d like you to go to PSG’, I would have to take it into account,” Hazard told Canal+.
The left winger has established himself as one of the best players in Europe this season, scoring 16 goals in the Premier and Champions League combined – and assisting seven goals as well.
Jose Mourinho has consistently lauded the young attacker this term, and has played him almost every match.
“He is special. He’s a fantastic player and we need fantastic players if we want to be strong,” his manager said back in February.
However, the comments from Hazard indicate that should the Ligue 1 champions make an astronomical offer for the world-class flyer, the Blues might have to think about selling.
Laurent Blanc’s side were linked with an £80m bid for Hazard earlier in the year, and it would take at least that kind of money to even tempt Chelsea into doing business.
PSG currently deploy the excellent Ezequiel Lavezzi on the left of a front three, which has terrorised Ligue 1 defences all season.
Hazard though is arguably a better dribbler, provides a more consistent goal threat, and is five years younger.
If he did join, he would likely be the final piece of PSG’s attacking triumvirate – alongside the brilliant Zlatan Ibrahimovic and £57m Uruguayan Edinson Cavani.
Chelsea are not in a financial position where they have to sell of course, meaning any potential deal would likely have to break the world transfer record.
