Fernandinho was wanted by Chelsea before Man City came calling.
Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho has revealed Chelsea wanted to sign him before he moved to Eastlands this summer.
The Brazilian joined City from Shakhtar Donetsk for around £30m but says Blues boss Jose Mourinho was also interested in his services.
“It is a complicated story,” Fernandinho revealed.
“There was contact before Manchester City came in for me but nobody told me about this in Shakhtar.
“I don’t know what happened between Shakhtar and Chelsea but I’m very happy. I have no regrets.
“City’s results show this. We try to play good football and in the last few games we have played good football and got good results.”
Chelsea host City at Stamford Bridge on Sunday but the Brazil international says he has nothing to prove ahead of the visit to London.
“It is not a case of showing my best against Chelsea, it is about showing my best against all the teams.
“We try to play good football to win all our games, that is no different whether it is against Chelsea or anyone else.”
