Chelsea look likely to move for the superstar forward in the summer…
Chelsea’s enigmatic boss Jose Mourinho has made it abundantly clear he wants to sign Falcao when the transfer window opens in the summer, reports the Guardian.
Throughout the season the Portuguese manager has been open in his comments that he wants a new world-class striker, but in a recent interview with French television station Canal Plus, he mentioned Monaco’s Colombian superstar without even being asked about him first.
“The problem at Chelsea is that we are missing a striker. I have one in [Samuel] Eto’o but he is 32, possibly 35, who knows?”, Mourinho began.
“I don’t have Falcao but Falcao doesn’t have a club. Who wants to play in front of 3,000 supporters? If I was one day to go to Monaco it would be the end.”
The comments indicate not only that Mourinho rates the 28-year-old highly, but also suggest that he believes the forward should be at a bigger club than Monaco.
This term injury has curtailed Falcao’s season, but he still managed nine goals in 16 appearances.
Monaco would undoubtedly demand an enormous fee for his services, but if Chelsea were to pay it, they would be installed as one of the early favourites for next season’s Champions League immediately.
