Abdul Baba Rahman is one of the fastest rising defensive stars in Germany – and Chelsea are in the market for a young ace like him.
Chelsea looked far and wide for a suitable replacement for Filipe Luis, and they finally got their man in Augsburg defender Baba Rahman.
According to the Metro, a transfer deal for Baba Rahman has been finalized and the official announcement is believed to me imminent. Although recent reports indicated that a recent offer for Baba Rahman had been rejected, the German newspaper Bild reported that a new bid had been accepted by the Bundesliga outfit.
The 21-year-old Baba Rahman had a £21.2 million release clause on his contract – of which Chelsea is believed to have offered only £17.5 million to trigger it.
Baba Rahman has 11 caps for the Ghana national team and helped the country earn a runner-up finish in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.
Last year Rahman helped the FC Augsburg defense have their best season since 2011, giving up just 43 goals and finishing in the top five on the table for the first time in four years.
