Lampard is set to be fit for the Premier League clash.
In one of the most highly anticipated fixtures of the Premier League season Chelsea host Manchester United on Sunday and Frank Lampard is set to return, according to the Daily Star.
The midfielder resumed full training on Monday after being out for 15 days with a thigh and hip injury and should be ready for the Stamford Bridge clash at the weekend.
Lampard has been indifferent this term, although remains a big part of manager Jose Mourinho’s plans – particularly with both Michael Essien and John Obi Mikel failing to impress thus far.
The 35-year-old has made 26 appearances in all competitions this term, scoring five goals and providing five assists, but has been out of action since the 2-1 league triumph over Liverpool on December 29.
Lampard’s experience is sure to make the midfield ace an important part of the starting XI that hosts the current English champions.
United have been poor under new boss David Moyes and already trail the Blues by nine points and will desperately need three points in west London.
However, Mourinho’s men are likely to play a cautious game as they are only two points behind leaders Arsenal and still have a very realistic chance of winning the title.
It’s unknown if Lampard will stay on at the club that the England international has spent nearly 13 years at, with the veteran’s contract expiring in the summer.
After breaking Bobby Tambling’s all-time scoring record last campaign the Englishman was rewarded with a one-year extension, but has dropped in form since then and may be forced to move on or retire.
