Former Gunners favourite recommends Chelsea attacker to Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, but concedes January transfer window deal likely to be tricky.
Former Arsenal great Ray Parlour says that Chelsea striker Demba Ba would be an ideal acquisition for his old side in the January transfer window, but concedes a deal would be difficult between the two London rivals.
“You need a big squad and I’m sure Arsene Wenger is looking at the situation and thinking, ‘who can we bring in to help?” Parlour told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT, as quoted by the Daily Mirror.
“Demba Ba would be perfect for Arsenal. They need someone like that, but would Chelsea let him leave for Arsenal?”
Having already turned down the Gunners’ move for Ba in the summer, it appears unlikely that Ba will be allowed to move on in January – though with Jose Mourinho openly stating his intention to buy a 30-goals-per-season forward in the summer, the Senegal international is expected to move on at the end of the campaign.
In the meantime, with Arsenal and Chelsea each within three points of each other at the top of the Barclays Premier League table, Mourinho is not expected to strengthen his team’s title rivals at the expense of his own side.
Ba has scored 9 times in 37 appearances for the Stamford Bridge outfit since signing for the Blues almost exactly a year ago.
