Ivanovic backs duo to improve.
Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic has backed Willian to improve after the Brazilian bagged his first goal for the Blues in the 3-1 win at Norwich.
Willian arrived at Stamford Bridge in August but has struggled to force his way into Jose Mourinho’s thinking, despite a price tag of over £30m.
But Ivanovic says the best is yet to come from his teammate and has backed the former Anzhi Makhachkala player to kick on after opening his account.
“Willian showed he can improve and he can impress all the guys more, and we expect from him a lot,” Ivanovic told FIFA.com.
“His goal is very important for him for confidence and for motivation.”
Ivanovic also backed striker Samuel Eto’o to improve after a slow start for the Cameroonian star, who also arrived from Anzhi in August.
“Eto’o is a guy who is still new in our team, in our squad, and we have tried to help him to settle as quickly as possible,” Ivanovic added.
“Both guys add fantastic quality.”
