Eto’o is still angry at the leaked comments from his manager.
Samuel Eto’o is likely to leave Chelsea in the summer as the striker is still angry at the comments made by manager Jose Mourinho about his age, according to the Sun.
Eto’o netted his 11th goal in a Blues shirt in the 6-0 demolition of Arsenal in the Premier League on Saturday and has been the club’s most prolific forward this season.
However, the 33-year-old was left frustrated earlier in the year when Mourinho jibed about the player’s age at a sponsors event.
The Portuguese coach was unaware he was being filmed when the 51-year-old questioned the attacking options he had at Stamford Bridge and specifically joked about the ambiguity surrounding Eto’o’s age.
“The problem with Chelsea is I lack a striker,” Mourinho was quoted by the Telegraph.
“I have Eto’o but he is 32 years old, maybe 35, who knows?”
This has irritated the Cameroon international and has convinced him he needs to leave Stamford Bridge when his current deal expires at the end of this campaign.
Eto’o was signed on a one-year deal from Anzhi Makhachkala in 2013 and it’s thought that Mourinho would like to extend that – although at a reduced rate from the £7m the Africa currently earns a year.
The attacker however is no longer prepared to do that and has already hinted he would like to return to former side Mallorca.
“My son has pressured me to finish my career there, my son is from there,” Eto’o was quoted by EPSN.
“I have signed on at Chelsea for the entire season and will try to enjoy it and later on, I will go to Mallorca.”
