Nemanja Matic could be heading back to Chelsea…

Chelsea are readying a £21m offer for Benfica’s Serbian midfielder Nemanja Matic, reports the Telegraph.
The Serbian midfielder left Stamford Bridge back in 2011, in part of the deal that saw the Blues sign David Luiz, but Matic has since established himself as one of Europe’s top anchoring midfielders.
Matic is a huge physical presence in the centre of the park, and provides his side with an excellent base from which the more attacking players can perform.
Currently, Chelsea either deploy John Obi Mikel or converted centre-half David Luiz in a holding midfield role, but Matic would provide a more physical, natural option.
The 25-year-old was named Player of the Year last term in Portugal, and it remains to be seen whether Benfica would even be wiling to do a deal with the talented enforcer.
Earlier this month, Matic was linked to Arsenal, and we analysed what he could bring to the Premier League. You can read it, here.
