Mourinho is said to be keen to land free-scoring Belgium.
Chelsea are interested in signing unsettled Aston Villa front man Christian Benteke this summer, according to reports in the Daily Telegraph.
The powerful Belgium international stunned Villa head coach Paul Lambert by handing in a transfer request on Monday, less than a year after the 22-year-old first arrived at Villa Park from Belgium outfit Genk on a four-year deal worth just £7 million.
And in his debut campaign in the Midlands, the striker proved that he is one of the most accomplished finishers in the Premier League as Benteke 23 goals overall in just 39 matches in all competitions, including an equally impressive 19 strike in only 34 top-flighty contests, and this in a side that was struggling badly for form all campaign long.
As a result, new Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is understood to now be keen to bring Benteke to Stamford Bridge now that the summer transfer window has finally reopened for business, although the west London club will need to pay at least £25m in order to secure the forward.
