Chelsea shone in attack but struggled in defence in a thrilling 3-4 victory over Sunderland at the Stadium of Light. Read player ratings here with Eden Hazard the star.
Petr Cech 6/10
Petr Cech let in three goals to Sunderland, and generally looked shaky throughout.
Branislav Ivanovic 7/10
The best member of Chelsea’s defence, Branislav Ivanovic was impressive both in the air and the tackle
Cesar Azpilicueta 6/10
Cesar Azpilicueta played at left back against a right footed winger in Emanuele Giaccherini and struggled, as he was always turning to try to tackle with his own right foot.
Gary Cahill 7/10
Gary Cahill did a reasonable job of marshalling the Chelsea defence in difficult circumstances.
John Terry 5/10
John Terry had his worst game of the season in a Chelsea shirt, making more fouls than tackles and winning just half of his aerial duels.
Frank Lampard 8/10
Frank Lampard scored and supplied an assist for Eden Hazard, and screened the defence well.
Ramires touched the ball 89 times, dribbled past four opponents and made an impressive three tackles in a good all round midfield performance.
Juan Mata 7/10
Juan Mata may not have supplied a goal or assist in his time on the pitch, but provided three key passes and was intelligent in his rotation of possession.
Willian was selected in the Chelsea starting line-up in place of the injured Oscar and performed a good job in his compatriot’s absence. The Brazilian glides across the pitch in wonderful style, and given more minutes could prove a great asset to the Blues.
Eden Hazard 10/10
Two goals and an assist, four key passes and dribbled past opponents twelve times.
A stunning performance.
Fernando Torres 5/10
Fernando Torres missed an open goal from point blank range again. It was another one of those nights for the Spaniard.
Andre Schurrle 6/10
Demba Ba 6/10
Had three shots, which was more than Torres had despite starting the match. However, none were on target.
John Obi Mikel 5/10
Was on the pitch for over 15 minutes but only made one pass.
