Chelsea’s maverick boss Jose Mourinho has not been suitably impressed with Romelu Lukaku, and will sell him in the summer, according to Rob Shepherd in the Daily Mail.
Despite the fact the 20-year-old forward has scored more Premier Leaguer goals this term than any of Chelsea’s trio of strikers, the Portuguese manager wants to bring in a new forward instead of trusting Lukaku next term.
Samuel Eto’o, Fernando Torres and Demba Ba have only bagged 14 goals between them, while Lukaku has registered 10 and assisted five for teammates too.
Last term Lukaku scored 19 for West Brom, confirming his reputation as one of the most promising young forwards in world football.
However, it’s unlikely that Chelsea will allow the forward to join a Premier League rival permanently.
According to Shepherd:
“Mourinho would be reluctant to sanction the sale of the striker to a rival English club for fear of the player coming back to bite him.”
Instead, Chelsea are expected to move for one of either Atletico Madrid’s Diego Costa or AS Monaco’s Radamel Falcao in the summer.
