Despite Chelsea’s star-studded squad, the Spaniard should still make the first XI…
This is the Chelsea side we believe Jose Mourinho should pick when his squad is fully fit…
This means leaving out the likes of Samuel Eto’o, Andre Schurrle, Willian, John Obi Mikel and Gary Cahill, but if you look at the lineup, you’ll see why.

On defence, David Luiz starts alongside John Terry. Luiz is uber-talented, and despite the odd defensive lapse, he has the ability to develop into one of the world’s very best if given a run of games, which Cahill arguably does not. Terry still provides great leadership and a real goal threat at the back, too.
At fullbacks, we reckon Ashley Cole and Branislav Ivanovic should be automatic starters, even if Mourinho currently prefers Cesar Azpilicueta.
In midfield, Ramires should provide the base, giving Lampard the licence to get forward and help the trio of brilliant attacking midfielders. Eden Hazard and Juan Mata can start from wide, with Oscar taking the no.10 role, behind the revitalised Fernando Torres.
We reckon the Spanish striker is slowly but surely starting to rediscover some of his old form, and should start ahead of Demba Ba and Eto’o.
