City delighted with former Blues midfielder.
Manchester City could extend the loan deal of former Chelsea star Frank Lampard after his fine start to the season, according to the Daily Mail.
The 36-year-old scored twice in this week’s Capital One Cup win over Sheffield Wednesday, and may now have done enough to convince Manuel Pellegrini to keep him beyond January.
Having left Chelsea for MLS side New York City FC in the summer, Lampard made the surprise move on loan to the Premier League champions for the first half of the season, but has impressed in his short time at the Etihad Stadium.
“We must talk about a lot of things, but it is not impossible for him to stay here,” said Pellegrini after last night’s game.
“He is a very important player for our team and maybe, at 36, he cannot play three games in a row. But Frank is a top player.”
