Baggies unhappy with Stamford Bridge club.
West Brom are ‘disappointed’ with Chelsea after the Midlands outfit rejected an offer from the Blues for wonderkid Isaiah Brown.
The teenager midfielder became the second youngster player ever to appear in the Premier League, when he came off the bench for the Baggies during the 3-2 home defeat against Wigan in May, aged just 16 years and 117 days.
Brown has represented England at youth level and has agreed to sign scholarship terms at the Hawthorns, having arrived at the club three years ago,
Under his current contract, Chelsea would be able to sign the youngster for a nominal fee decided by a tribunal but this compensation would be no consolation to West Brom should Brown fulfil his obvious potential at Stamford Bridge.
Richard Garlick, Albion’s Sporting and Technical Director, told the Daily Mail: “We are disappointed by Chelsea’s offer.
“We have invested a lot of time and money in Isaiah’s development as a player and – as one of our most exciting academy products in recent years – we had hoped to bring him through into our first team.
“But Chelsea have forced our hands and we are more than prepared for the matter to be decided by a tribunal if needs be.
“It makes you question why these young players are joining bigger clubs when they are likely to gain more first-team opportunities in the Barclays Premier League at clubs similar to us.”
Meanwhile, here is a pearl of wisdom from the man himself:
