Chelsea have given the green light for striker Fernando Torres to undergo a medical examination ahead of a proposed move to AC Milan, report the Express, with a deal for the Spanish international looking likely before the transfer window closes on Monday evening.
Torres, who was once signed for a then British record fee of £50 million, has struggled for form and confidence since making the move from Liverpool to Stamford Bridge and is likely to jump at the chance of reviving his career away from Chelsea.
Milan are reportedly set to offer Torres a two-year deal at the San Siro as they look to replace Mario Balotelli and make it back into the Champions League, with the option of a third, but only if he is willing to take a significant wage cut to make the move happen.
