Brazil star Pato could swap San Siro from Stamford Bridge.
CHELSEA face competition in their bid to land Alexandre Pato’s signature in January.
The AC Milan forward has also been tracked by Brazilian outfit Corinthians, whom Chelsea lost 1-0 to in Sunday’s FIFA Club World Cup Final.
Chelsea are looking to strengthen up front and have been linked with several high profile targets including Atletico Madrid’s talisman Radamel Falcao.
Alexandre Pato has arguably not hit the dizzying heights his displays as a youngster hinted at, with the young AC Milan forward suffering recurring injuries and periods of poor form. There has been talk of Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi looking to continue the cost cutting exercise that saw Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva sold to PSG in the summer by offloading Pato.
When fit, Pato is not guaranteed a starting spot in Massimiliano Allegri’s team due to the form shown of youngster Stephan El Shaarawy, so the 23-year-old may consider a move to Chelsea.
The Blues need attacking alternatives. Rafa Benitez’s side are relying on Fernando Torres to lead the line and a move for Pato could prove more realistic than bids for the likes of Edinson Cavani or Radamel Falcao, both of whom would take some removing from their current sides due to the great starts to the season both Napoli and Atletico Madrid have made.
Pato may also be swayed by the presence of national team colleagues David Luiz, Ramires and Oscar at Stamford Bridge.
