Blues want more options in the centre of the park next season.
Chelsea are interested in signing highly rated AS Roma midfield player Daniele de Rossi this summer, according to reports in the Daily Mirror.
The Italy international has been with the Roman giants throughout his whole career, having made his debut for the Giallorossa way back in the 2001-02 season, and in the intervening period the 29-year-old has established himself as being one of the most accomplished midfielders currently operating in the world.
De Rossi has featured in a whopping 418 matches overall in all competitions for the Serie A outfit in the past 12 years, scoring 47 goals in the process, including 33 strikes in his 306 league enconters for the club.
And despite having a contract in the Italian capital that runs until June 30 2017, it is understood that de Rossi could be available this summer for as little as £10 million after the player fell out with his own supporters in the previous campaign, while the club itself is also understood to be desperate for funds after failing to qualify for any European competitions next season.
