Ashley Cole set for Anfield move?

Liverpool will offer Chelsea defender Ashley Cole a £70,000-per-week contract, reports the Evening Standard.
The veteran Chelsea defender is out of contract in the summer, and there doesn’t seem to be any plans from the Blues hierarchy to offer him an extension, as he’s fallen out of favour under Jose Mourinho.
Once a guaranteed starter, Cole now has to content himself with a place on the bench behind Cesar Azpilicueta – and hasn’t made a Premier League start since mid January.
The England international did start versus Atletico Madrid last night though due to the suspension of Branislav Ivanovic, and showed he’s still got what it takes to compete at the highest level.
Liverpool badly need a new left-back, with Jose Enrique having sat out virtually the entire season injured, Aly Cissokho not impressing during his loan spell, and Jon Flanagan naturally a right-back.
Cole’s contract would be sizeable, but considering he wouldn’t cost anything in terms of a transfer fee, the Premier League title favourites could easily afford the deal.
