Chelsea confirm transfer offer has been made, but deny including Juan Mata or David Luiz in the deal.
Chelsea have revealed that they have indeed made a bid for Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney, but have denied today’s reports indicating that David Luiz or Juan Mata would be included in the transfer.
This morning’s UK newspapers all published the line that Chelsea had offered one of those two players plus a cash sum o £10 million, but Manchester United turned down such a deal.
Chelsea have now issued a statement confirming that a written transfer offer was made, but that no Blues players were included in the deal, and such reports were erroneous.
They also seemingly blamed Manchester United, who are on tour in Australia, for leaking false information to the press Down Under.
