Terry reveals that it will take time for the Anzhi duo to settle in at Stamford Bridge.
After Anzhi Makhachkala revealed all their players were up for sale after financial problems, Chelsea wasted no time and swooped in for Willian and Samuel Eto’o.
The Brazilian winger was close to a move to London rivals Tottenham Hotspur – even completing a medical at the club – before deciding to join the Blues instead at the 11th hour.
The ultimate Premier League XI made up entirely of new transfers.
Eto’o meanwhile took a pay cut from being the highest paid player in the world in order to rejoin Jose Mourinho – a manager the striker had enjoyed success with at Inter Milan.
Yet whilst the Cameroon international is a three-time Champions League winner and Willian is a highly rated talent, club captain John Terry has warned it will take time for the duo to adapt to life in England.
“You speak to them and they talk about how the intensity of their training is a lot different to how it is here so for sure it will take them a few weeks to get their full fitness,” Terry was quoted by Sky Sports.
“But once they do they’ll both look very good. I said to him [Eto’o], ‘Thank God you’re here’, because I’ve had so many battles against him.
“He”s got an eye for goal and I think he’ll be a good addition. He was welcomed straight into the squad.”
Both new additions could well be in the squad to face Everton on Saturday, with the west London club having enjoyed a good start since Mourinho returned to Stamford Bridge.
The side have seven points so far in the league following victories over Hull City and Aston Villa and a goalless draw with champions Manchester United.
