Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho will not sell Brazilian ace to Barcelona this summer.
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho says that there is no chance that defender David Luiz will leave Stamford Bridge for FC Barcelona this summer.
The Brazilian international defender has been repeatedly linked with a switch to Camp Nou throughout the campaign, but his Portuguese manager has no intention of allowing him to depart.
“No chance he is going to leave,” said Mourinho in an interview with BT Sport quoted by the Daily Mail.
“He is a player we want to keep. He is a player with four years (on his) contract, he just signed a contract last year.
“We like him. He is an important player and the club is not ready to sell him for any price.”
Reports circulated that Luiz had informed Barcelona he was ready to join them, but Mourinho gave them short shrift.
“I don’t know if he said that. What I can say is that he is not going to,” continued the Portuguese boss.
“The last quotes I read were Luiz saying he is not speaking about clubs when he is with the national team, which is a fantastic quote that I appreciate.
“That is the last quote I have and it is an intelligent one.”
