Despite a 2-0 record, the UCLA Bruins have taken a fall in the top 25 polls since the start of the season, but that’s nothing compared to how badly the Texas Longhorns have fallen. Both teams will try to climb the rankings in a matchup between two underrated talents.
The Bruins, who still have highly-touted QB Brett Hundley, won their last two games in rather unconvincing fashion – an 8-point victory over Virginia and a 7-point win over Memphis – neither of them games against conference opponents. A win over the Longhorns, while still not likely to be the kind of power opponent that would get them into the top 10, would give the Bruins more credibility before they play Arizona State next week.
The Longhorns are suffering immensely after not only losing but being blown out by BYU last week 41-7. With games against Baylor and Oklahoma in the next few weeks, a win over the Bruins is a necessity if the Longhorns have any hopes of reaching a Bowl game this season.
Prediction: UCLA – The Longhorns struggled against the pass and the Bruins have one of the best and most complete QBs in the nation with Brett Hundley. While it is hard to imagine the Longhorns losing again and at home, the Bruins simply have them beat.
