Canberra coach Ricky Stuart says disgruntled skipper Terry Campese has a future at the Raiders, despite the veteran requesting an extra month’s leave this week.
The Raiders granted Campese an extra month’s leave after it had emerged on Wednesday he had not fronted for Canberra’s first day of pre-season training.
Campese was a no-show at the club’s presentation dinner last month after he was dropped to the NSW Cup for the final few games of the season.
The events cast doubt over whether Campese would return to the Raiders in 2015, however Stuart says the former Origin representative is still part of the club’s plans.
“He’s got a contract here. So I don’t think it’s going to be his last game,” Stuart told reporters.
“Terry knows best — he’s a very experienced player. There’s no dramas there.
“I haven’t even thought about the captaincy side of it. I will at the right time.”
