The Miami Heat host the Brooklyn Nets in Game 2 on Thursday night looking to take a two-game series lead against their Eastern Conference rivals.
However, Dwyane Wade is cautious ahead of their next meeting as he believes the Heat will have to quickly adjust to any adjustments that coach Jason Kidd makes and it could be crucial to whether or not they split their opening two home games.
Miami were shooting 57 percent in Game 1 with 22 points from LeBron James who led a balanced scoring performance which in turn allowed the hosts to pull away in the second half.
Joe Johnson insisted that the effort wasn’t there from the Nets on the defensive end, and despite keeping James and Wade away from the line, the fact that the other role players were able to score significantly was the real issue.
Johnson and Deron Williams combined to make 14 of 21 shots for the Nets in the opening encounter, but the likes of Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce struggled to support them and that will be an area for improvement for the visitors.
Heat forward Chris Andersen suffered a right knee contusion but is confident that he will recover in time to feature, although coach Erik Spoelstra has stressed that whoever is on the floor must match the intensity and aggressiveness of Brooklyn.
With the Nets sweeping Miami in the regular season, they will still be confident despite falling behind in this series. However, they will understand the importance of taking away home-court advantage as heading home with a 2-0 deficit could be too much to overcome.
