Brisbane Lions veteran defender Matt Maguire has secured a new one-year deal with the club.
It completes a remarkable turnaround for the 30-year-old who was on the outer at the beginning of the 2014 season.
Maguire played in 12 of the Lions’ last 13 matches and proved to be a steady performer in a relatively inexperienced Lions backline.
The former St Kilda player has played 69 games over five seasons since joining the Lions at the end of 2009 on top of the 99 matches he featured in for the Saints.
“Matt is a fantastic personality to have around the club and the experience he brings to our young group is invaluable,” Lions football manager Dean Warren said.
“We are really pleased that Matt will be going around again in 2015 and there is no doubt that the likes of Darcy Gardiner and Justin Clarke will benefit immensely from having someone with Matt’s experience alongside them in the backline.”
