Spaniard agrees three-year deal to replace Heynckes from next season.
Former Barcelona head coach Pep Guardiola will be the next manager of Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich, the Bavarians have announced on their official website.
The Catalan, 41, is currently enjoying a year-long sabbatical, living in New York with his young family, but had always vowed to make a return to club management at the end of this season.
However, it had been widely assumed that the one-time Spain and Barca captain would end up coaching in the Premier League, with the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City all having been linked with his services in recent weeks.
That though is not now going to happen, with the erstwhile defensive midfield player having agreed terms on a three-year deal at the Allianz Arena to replace the current Bayern head coach Jupp Heynckes following his four-year, 14-trophy laden spell at Camp Nou.
