Australia captain Michael Clarke has reportedly been ruled out of the first Test match against India, starting in Brisbane next Thursday.
According to The Advertiser, the National Selection Panel have ruled Clarke out of the clash and will make an official announcement at some stage on Tuesday.
Clarke was set to play for his club side Western Suburbs on Saturday, after ruling himself out of the tour match beginning on Friday.
It is unclear whether Cricket Australia (CA) will name an immediate replacement for the 33-year-old, or wait for the current round of Sheffield Shield matches to conclude.
If CA opt to wait it out, the next four days will become an audition for the likes of Phil Hughes, Alex Doolan and Shaun Marsh.
The South Australian newspaper reports that CA have ruled Clarke out of both grade cricket the tour fixture.
