Two charges against controversial Gold Coast star James Roberts have been dropped after police were not able to provide sufficient evidence.
Roberts was arrested in late October on charges of public nuisance and obstructing police.
The 21-year-old appeared at the Southport Magistrates Court where it was confirmed police had withdrawn the charges in relation to an alcohol-fuelled night out.
Roberts was axed by both the Penrith Panthers and South Sydney Rabbitohs for off-field indiscretions.
The NRL’s integrity unit are reportedly investigating the incident.
