Veteran midfielder on verge of switch to Paris.
Former England captain David Beckham could be set for a sensational move to big-spending Ligue1 side Paris Saint-Germain, reports the Daily Mail.
The 37-year-old has been training with Premier League side Arsenal of late, although the club’s head coach Arsene Wenger has ruled out the possibility of the one-time Manchester United legend joining the Gunners.
“He is fantastic and that’s one of the reasons I take him here. He is here early in the morning and the young English players always look at him and take his advice on board,” Wenger said.
“He told me he has not done anything since he stopped at LA Galaxy. I don’t believe that. I was surprised. But maybe he wanted to get a bit away from it. He is 37 as well, you know.
“Beckham is super-ambitious. If in his mind he wanted to play in the Premier League he would not have gone on holiday, he would have prepared and come in and tried to impress me.
“He has told me he has done nothing at all. He told me that he doesn’t look at all to be in shape. But he wants to get fit again. He is a sportsman and maybe in June he has plans to play somewhere, maybe take three or four months off and prepare for next season.”
However, that has not stopped PSG manager Carlo Ancelotti, who coached the player while in charge of AC Milan, making a move for Beckham, who is a free agent having left Major League Soccer outfit the Los Angeles Galaxy in November.
