La Liga giants Barcelona are ready to offer a new deal to Pedro as the Catalan club are keen to dissuade suitors that are believed to include Premier League sides Arsenal and Liverpool, according to reports from the Daily Star.
The 26 year-old winger came through the ranks at the Nou Camp but has never quite established himself as one of the club’s leading lights, despite maintaining an impressive goals-to-games ratio throughout his six years as a first team option.
He has been linked with a move to either Arsenal or Liverpool, as both Premier League sides look to strengthen their squad in an attempt to mount an assault on both the Premier League and Champions League next season.
Gunners manager Arsene Wenger will be keen to avoid a repeat of the situation that arose after an injury to Theo Walcott, where his side were immediately deprived of width and pace due to a lack of alternative options.
Liverpool, meanwhile, continue to hunt for the perfect signing in attacking midfield after a deal for Southampton’s England international Adam Lallana seemed to stall in recent weeks.
It would now appear, however, that Pedro will be falling off the radar for both clubs, such is Barcelona’s determination to keep him at the Nou Camp for the foreseeable future.
