Catalans hope to sign Reds No 1 this summer.
Spanish giants Barcelona will make a move for Liverpool goalkeeper Joe Manuel Reina at the end of the season, say the Mail on Sunday.
The Catalans were stunned this week when first-choice shot-stopper Victor Valdes announced that he would not be signing an extension to his current contract, that runs out next year, meaning that Barca will start their search for a new No 1 immediately, with the club aiming to have a new keeper in place at the Camp Nou by the summer.
And, Barcelona have identified Reds goalkeeper Reina as being the man they want to replace Valdes between the sticks in Catalonia next season, especially as the 30-year-old came through the youth ranks at the club as part of their famed La Masia academy, before opting to join fellow Liga outfit Villarreal.
It is believed that Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers would be willing to listen to offers for the highly-regarded Spain international in order to bring in much-needed funds to help continue his rebuilding programme at Anfield, while it is an open secret on Merseyside that Reina himself is desperate to make a long-awaited return to his homeland after seven years spent in England.
