Ramires is now on the radar of both Barca and Madrid.
Chelsea midfielder Ramires is clearly impressing those in Spain after Barcelona joined rivals Real Madrid in showing interest in bringing the Brazilian to La Liga, reports Mundo Deportivo.
Real emerged as candidates to try and sign the 26-year-old earlier in November, but although Ramires was flattered by the interest, the South American showed no inclinations of wanting to leave Stamford Bridge.
“I see the interest of Real Madrid as recognition of my good work in Europe, but I’m under contract with Chelsea and it would be unethical of me to comment,” the midfield ace was quoted as saying by Sky Sports.
“For the moment, these are only rumours.
“I am very happy here. I am respected and part of the club’s history.”
However, the lure of Barca is not an easy one to pass up as manager Tata Martino appears to want to add to an already enviable midfield line-up.
The physicality of Ramires coupled with a superb technique is exactly what the head coach is after, although Atletico Madrid’s Koke and Arturo Vidal of Juventus are reportedly also on his wish list.
There are question marks over the futures of both Cesc Fabregas and Andres Iniesta at the Nou Camp, with the Guardian reporting that Manchester United want the latter, whilst the 26-year-old is said to be frustrated by a lack of game time.
This could leave an opening for Ramires if one of the Spaniards were to leave, although Martino is likely to do all in his power to ensure that doesn’t happen.
The Brazil international joined the Blues from Benfica in the summer of 2010 for a fee of £18.3m and has since played 167 matches in all competitions, helping the west London club to Champions League and Europa League success.
In fact Ramires even scored a wonderfully weighted lob to knock the Catalans out of the tournament in the semi-finals during their successful 2012 campaign.
