Kompany will be sidelined for a while longer.
Manchester City defender Vincent Kompany has been out of action for much of this season and is ruled out for a further three weeks with a thigh injury, reports Sky Sports.
This is bad news for both City and Kompany’s national team Belgium – as the 27-year-old will miss their upcoming international friendlies with Colombia and Japan.
The Belgian has struggled with muscle problems for the past 12 months and the Citizens look a lot weaker defensively when the player isn’t on the pitch.
“I think Vincent is going to be ready in several weeks,” national team physio Lieven Messchalck told Sky Sports.
“We will do everything we can to bring back Vincent in a good way for a long time.
“First of all he had a rupture, a tear into the abductor and then also he has bad luck with a small thing on the front side now, so it’s everything together.”
