It’s the fourth Test of the five-match Ashes series between Australia and England as the Aussies look to turn the screw and record a 5-0 whitewash.
The hosts have controlled this return fixture from start to finish, with dominant performances in the first three games to take a 3-0 lead and regain the famous urn.
Alastair Cook’s side are in disarray and have taken a further shock to the system by the surprise retirement of spin bowler Graeme Swann halfway through the tour.
Swann will be absent for this match, meaning that Monty Panesar is the only spinner available to the Three Lions now.
The Australians meanwhile will be calm and confident, with a few playing in the Twenty20 Big Bash tournament between these matches and ready to celebrate the festivities with another win.
Not that all is lost for the English, as Ben Stokes put in a performance showing much more maturity than the 22-year-old’s age should define in Perth.
Ian Bell and Joe Root have both shown some good form as well, but it’s Cook’s displays as both an opener and captain that will be the biggest concern.
Stuart Broad’s foot injury is likely to rule the seamer out of this Test and Boyd Rankin is the most probable bowler to be drafted in as a replacement.
For the hosts, the impressive Ryan Harris may be rested with Doug Bollinger and Nathan Couter-Nile waiting to make the step up.
