Cole’s self imposed exile is actually kind of sad.
Former Arsenal full-back Ashley Cole has explained that he rejected the chance to take part in a new documentary about the club’s invincibles of 2004 because he didn’t believe the fans would want him there, the Daily Mirror reports.
Certain members of the invincibles squad were in attendance for a special premiere of the documentary earlier this week, but Cole declined to make an appearance.
Having left Arsenal for London rivals Chelsea under acrimonious circumstances in 2006, his reputation at the Emirates has never quite recovered in the eyes of the Gunners faithful.
And he took to Twitter to explain his absence…as if living and playing in Italy wasn’t enough.
People asking why I'm not in the #Invincibles book I thought it would be for the best. I didn't think fans would want it,

But I will never forget my times at arsenal and the amazing achievements I accomplished there with great people
