Wojciech Szczesny lost his place for today’s win over Stoke City.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed the reasons behind his decision to leave first choice goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny on the bench for the Premier League win over Stoke City today, report Goal, with Wenger insisting that the player’s recent ill discipline was not a factor in his decision.
Colombian international David Ospina kept his place after the FA Cup win over Hull City last weekend – and he kept a second successive clean sheet, with Wenger insisting that the former Nice man deserve another shot:
“He [Ospina] deserved to play again. A good opportunity as well. Szczesny has played many games and to have a look at Ospina as well. Not discipline, no. You look only at form and performance and sometimes fatigue as well. Sometimes they [goalkeepers] need a breather as well.”
