Here’s the side we reckon Arsenal will go with in the FA Cup third round tie against Tottenham at the Emirates.
With Mesut Ozil, Aaron Ramsey and Olivier Giroud all expected to miss out with injury, Jack Wilshere and Santi Cazorla will be entrusted with the side’s creative responsibility.
GK) Wojciech Szczesny
The Polish stopper has been ever present this term, and we can’t imagine Arsene Wenger will change it up for the clash with bitter rivals Spurs. If he does, except loanee Italian international Emiliano Viviano to be given his first appearance.
DR) Carl Jenkinson
We think that Wenger will rest key right-back Sagna in order to give young Englishman Jenkinson a chance. The 21-year-old has only been given seven starts in all competitions this season, and we reckon the Frenchman will trust him to come in and do a job against Tottenham.
DC) Thomas Vermaelen
The Belgian is still the club’s official captain, but he’s very much the third choice centre-back behind the excellent pairing of Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny. Vermaelen could be given a game though so that the towering German can be rested before a crucial run of Premier League fixtures.
DC) Laurent Koscielny
The Frenchman has been superb for the Gunners this term, and he will likely be charged with the responsibility to keep Roberto Soldado and the revitalised Emmanuel Adebayor quiet in Tottenham’s two pronged attack.
DL) Nacho Monreal
With Kieran Gibbs injured, the Spanish international fullback should be given a rare start at the back. He’s only been given four starts all season, but is composed and comfortable in possession, and unlikely to let anyone down.
