Los Blancos president in veiled criticism of Mesut Ozil.
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez says Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil left Los Blancos because he ‘could not stand the pressure of Madrid’.
Ozil, 23, joined the Gunners in a club record £43.4m deal and his arrival in North London has been hailed as a major coup for Arsene Wenger’s side.
Real Madrid, meanwhile, have faced criticism for offloading the Germany international, who has bagged more assists than anyone else in Europe over the past five seasons.
But in a veiled criticism of Ozil, Perez says the German could not handle life at the Bernabeu.
“Ozil asked to leave the club and nobody here should be upset about it,” Perez told Bernabeudigital.com.
“He could not stand the pressure of Madrid.”
