The Gunners have lost just once since March 3.
The 4-1 win over Norwich City on Saturday was Arsenal’s sixth Premier League victory from eight matches this season and leaves the club top of the table.
Yet other than a hiccup against Aston Villa on the opening day of the new campaign – a 1-3 home defeat – this form stretches right back to the early part of the year for the Gunners.
In fact since losing 2-1 to fierce north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur on March 3, the side have been on a hugely impressive run, with just one loss in that time.
Since that loss at White Hart Lane the form of Arsene Wenger’s men reads as follows:
Wins: 19.
Draws: Four.
Losses: One.
This includes away victories at the Allianz Arena against Bayern Munich and also Marseille in the Champions League and a triumph over Tottenham.
In fact one of the draws was with West Bromwich Albion in the League Cup, when the youngsters from the club secured passage to the next round after winning on penalties – which doesn’t count as a win for the stat books.
This form towards the end of the 2012/13 term saw Wenger’s side sneak ahead of Spurs into the Champions League places against the odds – a 17th consecutive year in the competition, a feat only topped by Manchester United and Real Madrid.
With club record signing Mesut Ozil at the Emirates Stadium and youngsters such as Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere giving great performances of late, things are looking good once more.
It may be too early to tell, but Arsenal fans could be forgiven for thinking that their eight-year trophy drought will end this season – and maybe even with the league title.
