Karim Benzema will cost the Gunners £22m…
Arsenal will turn their attentions to Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema, after the Spanish club earmarked Liverpool’s Luis Suarez as January’s top target, reports the Mirror.
Madrid have noticed Suarez’s brilliant start to the season, and are willing to offer him lucrative terms in January if the Reds are willing to sell.
The Spanish champions are more than happy to pay £50m for the Uruguayan forward, who has already become the Premier League’s joint top scorer despite being suspended for the first five games of the season.
If Madrid can pull off the transfer, Arsenal will be front runners to sign Benzema.
The French striker will be available for a bargain £22m, after falling out of favour under new boss Carlo Ancelotti. Although Benzema has come back in the fold recently, Madrid will be happy to sell him if Suarez becomes available.
The Gunners already have in form Olivier Giroud as a striker option, but could struggle badly should the Frenchman pick up an injury. With Arsenal currently topping the table, manager Arsene Wenger wants to make sure his squad is as strong as possible, and will bid for Benzema at the nearest possible opportunity.
