Arsene Wenger has insisted that Arsenal were ‘never’ interested in signing Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha, despite admitting on Thursday the club were ‘looking’ at the player.

Zaha, 20, is reportedly on the verge of joining Manchester United in a £15m deal after meeting with Old Trafford boss Sir Alex Ferguson on Monday.
Arsenal and North London neighbours Tottenham were also thought to be keen on the youngster, who made his England debut in November 2012.
When asked about a move for the fleet-footed forward last Thursday, Wenger confirmed: “We are looking at him, but at the moment we have not made any bid for him.
“I don’t know if Manchester United are in for him. Anyway, if you call any club for any player, they will tell you Man United, Milan, Real Madrid are as well in for him, but it is always difficult to know if it is true or not.”
But the Frenchman has now denied any interest in Zaha, stressing in a press conference ahead of Wednesday’s Premier League clash with West Ham that he had no interest in the player.
“We were never in for him, never,” Wenger told Arsenal.com.
“If he goes to Man United, good luck to him,” the Frenchman finished.
