The Gunners fancy Alex Pato in January…
Arsenal will battle North London rivals Tottenham for the signature of Brazilian striker Alex Pato, reports the Express.
Tottenham were reportedly favourites for the Brazilian forward, but Arsenal now appear frontrunners for the ultra talented striker’s signature, and will make a £10m bid for his services when the transfer window open in January.
Arsene Wenger has given the green light to a £10m bid for Corinthian’s 24-year-old, and it remains to be seen whether Spurs are willing to match or beat the offer.
Pato was once regarded as one of the biggest talents in world football, and earned a mega money move to AC Milan back in 2007.
After six troubled years though, Pato moved back to his home country, and has quietly rediscovered some of the form which has seen him win 27 caps for the Brazilian national side.
Despite their brilliant start to the season, Arsenal are very short up top. Due to injuries to Yaya Sanogo and Lukas Podolski, only the much maligned Nicklas Bendtner is a reserve option for Olivier Giroud.
Tottenham similarly are short in the forward positions, as Emmanuel Adebayor has been ostracised, meaning only Jermain Defoe and Roberto Soldado are competing for the only striker spot.
