The 20-year-old Argentine has attracted plenty of interest after some fine form in Serie A, drawing comparisons with Manchester City star Sergio Aguero.
Southampton have also been linked with the player in recent times, but it may now be that Arsenal and Spurs will be the leading contenders to snap him up in the January transfer window.
Both sides could do with additions upfront after some poor form from their front-men this season, with Danny Welbeck struggling for Arsenal and Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado looking off-form for Tottenham.
