Gunners to make move for talented Dutchman in January.
Arsenal are set to undertake an £8m raid on Celtic in the January transfer window to sign talented Dutch defender Virgil Van Dijk, according to the Metro.
Arsene Wenger sent the club’s scouts to watch van Dijk in action for the Scottish side against Dinamo Zagreb, and received a report that was full of praise for the Dutch international.
Injuries have hampered the Gunners squad so far this season, especially at the back, and Van Dijk – who was linked with moves to Southampton and Sunderland over the summer – is being viewed as the ideal man to add some much needed cover to their defensive unit.
The 23-year-old has already insisted that he is committed to the Bhoys, but a tempting offer from a top Premier League outfit may prove too good to turn down.
