Players were rested in the FA Cup win over Liverpool to be fit for the Bayern Munich clash.
It was a good day for Arsenal as they beat Liverpool in the FA Cup fifth round and then Arsene Wenger revealed some positive injury news ahead of the Champions League.
The Gunners play the first leg of their potentially tricky last-16 clash with Bayern Munich on Wednesday and Wenger rested some key stars against the Reds as a result.
Wojciech Szczesny, Bacary Sagna, Kieran Gibbs, Jack Wilshere, Santi Cazorla and Olivier Giroud were all left out of the starting XI.
The gamble paid off as Wenger’s men ran out 2-1 victors and the 64-year-old says that they should have a strong squad available for the Bayern match.
Wenger on “medical” changes: Wilshere (“stiff back”), Gibbs (“little muscular problem”), Sagna (“tired”), Cazorla (“ill”). All ‘ok’ for Wed

The north Londoners are midway through a tough month of fixtures, which started with a 5-1 thrashing at Anfield and continued with a 0-0 Premier League draw with champions Manchester United on Wednesday.
This win at the Emirates Stadium will help boost confidence as Wenger’s men prepare for the first leg of the tie with Bayern.
They were eliminated by the Bundesliga champions at this stage in 2013 on away goals, with the Germans going onto win the competition.
They are favourites to lift the trophy again now Pep Guardiola is in charge and Bayern are dominating the German top tier once more, so Wenger will need all his stars available.
