Montenegrin international expected to leave Florence this summer.
Fiorentina have claimed that Arsenal target Stevan Jovetic is still being monitored by Juventus, despite the Bianconeri signing Carlos Tevez this week.
The Montenegrin striker is understood to still want to leave the Franchi this summer, but after having signed Tevez, there were doubts Juve would still be interested having been favourites to sign him.
However, Fiorentina general manager Sandro Mencucci has confirmed that they are still tracking the 23-year-old, although there is a hesitancy to do business with Juve, given the rivalry between the two clubs.
Arsenal have also shown an interest in the star over the past year, and while they are reportedly prioritising Gonzalo Higuain, they will have a close eye on the situation in Florence too.
“Jovetic to Juventus? Money has no scent, so in financial terms we do not rule any club out. Admittedly the Della Valle family wouldn’t be very happy if he went there and perhaps would have something to say,” Mencucci told La Gazzetta dello Sport, as reported by football-italia.net.
“I met with our directors on Thursday and emerged very confident a great Fiorentina will emerge. You just need to give us a little time, as the options we are working on are very important.”
Meanwhile, Mencucci also commented on speculation suggesting that the club are close to signing Bayern Munich striker Mario Gomez as a replacement.
The club have already entered the transfer market to sign former Malaga winger Joaquin, and are keen to continue to add to what is becoming an ever-increasingly exciting project.
Fiorentina remain interested in the German international, but it remains to be seen whether he wishes to leave his homeland this summer given the lack of first-team action he is likely to encounter at the Allianz next year.
“It is beyond doubt that Gomez is one of the players who interests us.
“I can also tell you that Fiorentina are one of the teams he is keeping in mind should be change jersey this summer,” he concluded.
